Big Early Lead Carries Fairport

Raiders go up 20 on Edison then withstand rally
Fairport built a 20-point first half lead, but had to withstand a relentless Edison rally to beat the Inventors 61-48 at MCC Monday evening.

Edison closed to within six points on a Quan Colbert jumper midway throught the fourth quarter. However, Matt Keenan canned a J at the other end and the Red Raiders were never threatened again. Keenan also scored eight points in a 10-0 2nd quarter run that blew open a tight game.

Raliek Redd made a three pointer just before the half for Edison that shaved the Fairport lead to 14 at the break. Edison only made up one point in the third quarter, but Redd and Colbert helped Edison get the first seven points of the 4th to close within 53-47.

Fairport upped their record to 8-2 while Edison dropped to 5-8.

The game was the last of four in a Martin Luther King Day showcase at MCC. North Rose-Wolcott beat Kendall in the opener. Franklin came back from six down after three quarters to hand Buffalo East only their second loss of the year in game two. SOTA then rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to nip HF-L 45-42.
