Brockport Hangs On to Top Victor 9-7

Victor missed 20-yard field goal with 2 seconds left
Brockport hung on by the hairs on their chinny-chin-chin to beat Victor 9-7 in front of a packed house. Victor missed a 20-yard field goal with 2.8 seconds remaining that would have won them the game.

This game featured terrific defense from both teams. The first and third quarters were scoreless were both scoreless.

Brockport scored the game's opening points in the opening minute of the sceond quarter on a 23-yard field goal from Chris Carlson. The Blue Devils made it 9-0 going into halftime after a 24-yard touchdown strike from Josh Michels to Matt Prest. 

Early in the 4th quarter, Brockport was moving the ball nicely, but Jake Fey fumbled at the end of a 20-yard run. Victor's first play after recovering that fumble was a 39-yard touchdown from Mike Wagner to Conor Powers. The PAT made it 9-7 with seven minutes remaining.

Both teams traded punts down the stretch. Victor had the ball on their own 25-yard line with 2:38 remaining. Wagner moved the ball effectively inside the Brockport end, but Joe Carrier missed the 20-yard FG as time expired.

With the win, Brockport (5-1, 4-0) claims the Division II title for the third straight year. Victor falls to 4-2, and 2-2 in the division.
