Dillard hit three's on back to back possessions, and then drew a foul on the one after that. She made the first free throw for point number 2000. Head coach Tara Graziadei brought out a commemorative ball and gave Dillard a hug. Her parents were next. After pictures and a kiss on each cheek, Dillard got back to business.
She scored 25 points to lead the Spartans over Brockport 73-35 in Gates Monday night. Skylar Whitmore added 16 for Gates.
Brionna Blocker led Brockport with 14 points.
Dillard is the 18th female in Section Five history to top 2,000 points and the first since Alyssa Fenyn did it in 2009. She the first to top 2K in Gates-Chili girls basketball history. Dillard now has 2,018 points, which is good for 16th all-time in Section Five. She's only 67 points away from 11th and has an outside shot to crack the top ten, but would need enough games to total 118 more points.
Gates-Chili is now 13-5.
