East High Rallies To Win 24th Sectional Title

Orientals overcome late 4th quarter deficit to win 49-46
(6)Edison and (1)East traded leads with less than 5 minutes to go in their Class A1 championship game, but it was the Orientals that took the lead last, winning 49-46 on Sunday at Blue Cross Arena.

East High now has 24 Section V trophies.

Dontay Caruthers once again led East High in scoring with 22 points. He was also named tournament MVP. He was the only Oriental in double figures.

Edison had two played with 10 or more points. Quan Colbert led the Inventors with 18 while Raliek Redd posted 10 points.

Neither team shot the ball well. East went 14-48 from the floor (29.2%) while Edison finished 16-47 (34.0%).

East High will take on A2 champions Geneva in the Western, NY regional play-in game on Wednesday, March 5th at 7:00 from Rush-Henrietta High School.
