Schroeder Nips Irondequoit

Brandan Gartland, Emmitt Holt with big games for Warriors
Brandan Gartland scored a career-high 21 points and Emmitt Holt stuffed the statsheet with 13 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks as Schroeder earned a tough 46-43 win over Irondequoit in Webster Monday night.

Antonio McIntyre led the Eagles with 12 in a losing cause.

Irondequoit trailed by four early in the fourth quarter, but Dylan Harrington hit a three and then converted a steal into a go-ahead layup.

The Warriors answered with two free throws, but Harrington put Irondequoit on top again. His outlet to D.J. Walker resulted in an easy deuce and the Eagles led 41-40.

Schroeder took the lead for good on the next trip. Holt spotted Will Blake cutting and he dropped in the layup for a one-point lead. After a stop, Holt hit a tough fallaway jumper over a double team to give the Warriors a three point lead with 1:20 to play.

Irondequoit hit a pair of free throws to pull within 44-43, but only 32 seconds remained on the clock. The Eagles were forced to foul and Schroeder made two more from the charity stripe to regain the three point advantage.

The Eagles missed a wide open layup with under ten seconds to go. After Schroeder missed the front end of a 1-and-1, Irondequot had five seconds to tie. However, a length of the floor inbound pass could not be handled and the Warriors ran out the clock.

Schroeder improved to 13-4 with the win while Irondequoit fell to 14-3.
