Fairport Wins 1st Ever State Title in Boys Volleyball

Raiders roll to 3-0 victory in state finals
Fairport won the Division 1 Finals three games to none over Sachem East and captured the school's first ever state title in boys volleyball Friday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The Red Raiders won by scores of 25-16, 25-21 and 25-22.

Fairport also won their first three games of pool play. The Raiders beat Bethlehem twice by scores of 25-21 and 26-24 and then took the first game from Sachem 25-20. At that point, the Raiders had clinched a spot in the finals and their final game with Sachem was meaningless. Fairport lost that game 25-9.

It turned out to be a key win for Sachem. They split two games with Bethlehem and qualified for the finals based on the win over a Fairport team with nothing to play for.

Victor won the Division II title to make it a Section Five sweep in boys volleyball.
