Irondequoit Finish Strong to Beat Hilton

Eagles score 3 times to go to 7-1
The rain at Frontier Field probably didn't help the beginning of the contest between Irondequoit and Hilton, but by the third period, the Eagles found their stride, scoring three times in a 3-2 win over the Cadets.

The two teams entered the game 11-1. Irondequoit moves to 7-1 with the win while Hilton falls to 5-1.

Neither team scored in the game's opening period that was more remarkable for the playing conditions than the quality of play.

In the final minute of the second period, Hilton grabbed the lead when Jake Palumbo stuffed the puck over the goalline from the side of the crease.

Irondequoit leveled things up in the opening minute of the third period when Louis Cup blasted home a rebound from a Andrew Knope shot. At 7:46 into the third, the Eagles took the lead for the first time when Anthony Thurston fired through traffic off a blocked shot. With less than five minutes to go in the game, Mitchell Culver put Irondequoit in front for good with terrific stickwork in front of goal.

Palumbo scored his second goal of the game at 12:55 into the third period to round out the scoring.
