Irondequoit Narrowly Gets Past Churchville

Knope scores twice in 4-3 win
Andrew Knope scored a pair of goals leading Irondequoit over Churchville-Chili 4-3 at Lakeshore Ice Arena Saturday afternoon.

Knope scored on a shorthanded breakaway to put the Eagles up 1-0 and then broke a 2-2 tie with a power play goal late in the second period. Matthew Comanzo found the net early in the second period and Mitchell Culver got what turned out to be the game winner five minutes into the third period.

Anthony Frati and Connor Hoyng scored goals 59 seconds apart in the second period to erase a 2-0 deficit for the Saints. Tyler Bennett capped the scoring with a goal 17 seconds before the buzzer, but Churchville-Chili could not tie. Ryan Cosgrove assisted on a three goals for the Saints.

Irondequoit stays perfect at 5-0 while the Saints drop to 5-2.
