Yes, I will admit I just I love the Academy Awards! I love to watch all of the clothes on the red carpet, the speeches but what I was really waiting for, thanks to so many of my “little patients”, was to see if the song “Frozen” would win Best Original Song
I have not seen the movie, but I can tell you that most of my patients between the ages of 3 and 12 have!!! In fact, they have seen it numerous times. They also know the words to the entire song, “Let it Go”. It amazes me that the youngest children can memorize an entire song.....some before they are potty trained? Go figure out the human brain.
But, one of the perks of my job is that I get to learn about the newest favorite movie characters, including Elsa (the favorite doll of the moment) and Olaf the snowman. I am also fortunate that most children can explain the entire movie in detail, which is like the Cliff Notes for me, but it is also a great way for me to assess a child’s expressive language and articulation.
I also ask them questions about the movie, and this gives me an idea about their receptive language and processing as well. Good developmental screening tools during their well-child visit.
So, I have been taping a few of my patients doing their own versions of “Let it Go” while they are in my office passing the time. Doesn’t get much cuter than this! Budding stars for sure. And yes, they also know a winner!
And the Oscar goes to.....”Let it Go” from Frozen! Hmmm....maybe I can get The Kid’s Doctor staff to do a sing-a-long. Stay tuned.
