1st Annual Walk Celebrates a Life Cut Short

A significant life tragically cut short was remembered Sunday.
Hundred gathered in Fairport to bike and run for Heather Boyum, who was fatally hit by a drunk driver last July while biking on Route 250.

The first annual Iron Angel 5K Run was a sold-out event and it was chance for the Fairport community to reflect on Boyum's short-lived life.

"Everyone is here because if Heather and her family... they needed to be here," said Bonnie Venton, the race director.

Boyum was a mother of children, an accomplished tri-athlete as well as a Fairport High school science teacher.

All proceeds from Sundays event will go towards The Heather Boyum Children Memorial Education Fund, which funds her children's future education.
