Cocktails for a Cure will raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Thursday evening at the Back Nine Grill in Pittsford.

The first ever Cocktails for a Cure will include local stars serving as celebrity bartenders from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.  News 8's Scott Hetsko and Stacey Pensgen will be among the stars.  There will also be a 50/50 raffle and signed memorabilia by soccer star Abby Wambach.

Event organizer Mike Cimineri and Victor's Caleb Eckert discussed the fundraiser Wednesday on News 8 at Noon.  Both have Type 1 Diabetes.

Cimineri said the JDRF was rated among the top five percent of non-profit charities and 80 percent of all the money raised will go towards diabetes research.  Since it's founding in 1970 by parents of children with Type 1 Diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.6 billion to diabetes research.

The Back Nine Grill is located at 3500 East Avenue in Pittsford.
