Local boy scouts from Troop 94 honored senior veterans who live at Episcopal Senior Life Communities.
Local boy scouts from Troop 94 honored senior veterans who live at Episcopal Senior Life Communities.

The ceremony was held Monday morning at the Episcopal Church Home on Mount Hope Avenue. Thirteen boy scouts and leaders participated in the event, and helped pass out flags to all the vets. Afterward, they had lunch with the veterans and got to pick their brains about all of their experiences.

"They read about it in books..but to sit down and talk to someone that's actually been there and has been through it...they're just thrilled. It's living history, so they're just really excited about it," Stephen Gloss said.

A total of 43 veterans were honored during the ceremony. They say it is an honor to recognize those local people who have so bravely served our country. Boy scout Troop 94 has been around for 65 years and is based in Gates.
