Cal-Mum 24, Walton 10

Cal-Mum advances to Class D state championship game

Cal-Mum made key defensive stops to defeat Walden (Section IV), 24-10. Cal-Mum senior lineman Jon Kemnitz and defensive back Tyler Lauffer recovered fumbles that stopped drives by Walton that were inside the Red Raiders' territory.

Madison Suhr, on quarterback sneaks, and Tyler Lauffer (36-yard run) scored the Cal-Mum touchdowns.

With under three minutes left, Walden blocked a Cal-Mum punt and recovered at the Cal-Mum 9-yard line. A few plays later, facing a 4th and 5 at the 4-yard line, Cal-Mum's defense made a goal-line stop to secure the 14-point victory.

The Red Raiders, who advance to the state title game for the first time since 2003, face Tuckahoe of Section I, on Nov. 26 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
