Amerks Start Preparing for AHL Playoffs

Optional skate as team gets ready for Friday's Game 1
The Amerks haven't reached the second round of the AHL playoffs since 2005, but this year's squad seems poised as ever to make a deep run in the postseason.

Winners of 7 of their last 9 going into the playoffs, the Amerks also have the fortune of hosting the first two games of their series with the Chicago Wolves.

"I'm happy it's that way," said forward Tim Schaller. "I think it's good that we have two games at home and I think if we can get two wins that would be huge."

Today, the Amerks had an optional team skate at Blue Cross Arena. Many players decided to lift weights instead with three days of practice coming up.

"We have to be ready for Game 1," said head coach Chadd Cassidy. "I'm way more worried about the way we play and everybody understanding how we need to execute in order to be effective."

Game 1 between the Amerks and Wolves is scheduled for a 7:05pm start on Friday, April 25th from Blue Cross Arena.
