Aquinas Cruise to 8th Straight Sectional Title

Pietropaolo grabs MVP after 2 TDs and 165 yards
The winning tradition upheld by the Aquinas football team added a new chapter with their 50-6 win over Rush-Henrietta in the Class AA Section V Championship. It's the 8th straight sectional title for the Little Irish.

As they have done all season, Aquinas controlled all phases of the game. The Irish marched down the field on the game's opening possession, scoring on a 5-yard burst from Luch Pietropaolo to make it 7-0. Donato Clemente scored the first of his two touchdowns later in the opening quarter to make it 14-0.

Rush-Henrietta was able to move the ball well to start the second quarter. Dekwon Wilson reached the endzone on an 11-yard screen pass to make it 14-6 Irish, but that was the only time R-H reached the endzone all game. Once Pietropaolo and Alonzo Turney both scored touchdowns to make it 28-6, the game was in hand for Aquinas.

The Little Irish will take their perfect record and top ranking in NYS back to Sahlen's Stadium on Saturday, November 16th when they face Jamestown of Section VI in the WNY Regional. Kickoff is slated for 6:00.
