Darien Lake Opens For 2014 Season

Darien Lake opened Saturday for its 51st season of family fun.
Darien Lake opened Saturday for its 51st season of family fun.

Western New York's largest theme park opened the season with some exciting new additions including the previously announced $2 million in accommodations upgrades and Nik Wallenda: Beyond the Falls. Another major upgrade this season is the new "Happiness Guaranteed" program. The new program includes three policies:

1. Sunny Day Guarantee: If guests experience 90 minutes of continuous weather interruption that restricts certain rides they will receive a complimentary admission ticket that can be used on any operating day of the season. Season pass holders will get a free "bring a friend" ticket.

2. Short-line Guarantee: If guests experience a 45 minute wait in line for any ride or water park attraction they will get a "front of the line" pass good for use later in the day.

3. Ride Service Guarantee: If a ride goes out of service, Darien Lake promises to have it back up and running in a few short hours or guests will receive a complimentary admission ticket.

"If our guests aren't happy, we're not happy," Darien Lake vice president and general manager Rod Rankin said. "We're committed to delivering incredible, memorable experiences for Western New York families by implementing new policies aimed at exceeding expectations across the board."
