Fatal RTS Bus Crash

A man was killed today when he drove right into an RTS bus at West Main Street and Jefferson Avenue.
Police are reviewing videotape from many cameras along West Main Street, near Jefferson Avenue, that may have captured a vehicle cutting off a car as it was traveling eastbound on West Main.

"The bus was driving, the car was coming, and it hit the bus from the sideways, and got smashed.  So somebody called police and everybody started coming," said bystander Shakila Holley.

Tonight, Rochester Police continue to search for answers.

"At this point, we do not know the license plate of the vehicle that turned in front of our victim vehicle, so we're asking people if they have any knowledge of this accident, to please come forward and let us know any information," said Jackie Schuman, who is with the Rochester Police Department.

The crash happened in the middle of the day just before rush hour.  Police are hoping someone saw something that can lead them to the driver who took off.

"I just feel really bad for him.  Cause I know his family don't know a lot," added Holley.

The Medical Examiner's Office has not identified the man who died.  The bus driver was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.  There were no passengers on the bus at the time.
