Fire On Hawley Street Leaves One Man In Critical Condition

Fire Officials say one man is in critical condition after a fire on Hawley Street early Saturday morning.
Fire Officials say one man is in critical condition after a fire on Hawley Street early Saturday morning.  

Rochester Fire Department reported to a fire on 299 Hawley Street around 6:30am Saturday morning. Residents in the in the building called the fire department after smelling smoke and hearing a smoke detector going off. Crews found a man in his early 20's in a bedroom of the third floor residence.  The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Fire officials say that the fire had started in the kitchen and caused extreme heat and smoke damage on the third floor of the building. The fire burnt itself out before crews arrived. No one else was injured, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
