Gates-Chili Season Ends At State Semis

Dillard's 24 points not enough
Stefanie Svoboda nailed a three pointer midway through the fourth quarter to give Ossining a lead they would not reliquish as the Pride ended Gates-Chili's season with a 69-62 win in the Class AA state semifinals at Hudson Valley CC near Albany Friday night.

Cierra Dillard closed out her career with one final stellar performance. She scored 24 points, pulled down ten rebounds and dished out four assists in a losing effort for the Spartans.

A short jumper by Arianna Rutledge put Gates on top 55-53 midway through the fourth quarter. However, Svoboda answered with a three pointer that trigged a seven point spurt by the Pride. Gates-Chili closed within three at one point but never took the lead again.

The game was tied after the first, second and third quarters.

Gates-Chili was only a 4-seed in sectionals, so qualifying for the state final four was quite a surprising run. The Spartans finished the season 19-5.
