We are your home of the Buffalo Bills games and we've got news about the sale of the team. It could happen sooner than later. Billionaire Tom Golisano wants to be the new owner. Bills fans we talked to like Golisano. He is a powerhouse in Western New York. And some say he is tailor made to take over the Bills. Golisano rescued the Buffalo Sabres from moving. Now he just may be the man to keep the Bills here too.
Golisano knows a good investment. He founded Paychex with just $3000 and a credit card. He remains chairman of the payroll company today.
"Great idea. I mean, successful businessman. He knows how to start from the bottom up. And he'd do a great job. He's a winner," said Kevin Schneider, Bills fan.
Golisano's generosity is behind many success stories in Rochester, including the Golisano Children's Hospital, Bishop Kearney High School and RIT's College of Computing and Information.
"I think it would be great for the community. He's a local guy, so you know the team would stay here. He'd be good for everyone. He's been around the area for a long time and I'm sure he's got a lot of ties here, so," said Chris Thompson, Fairport.
With a net worth of $2.1 billion, Golisano sits at number 872 on Forbes list of billionaires. He'll be competing with other billionaires to buy the Bills. But he's seen as a front-runner because he would honor Ralph Wilson's wishes to keep the team at home.
"He's done a lot for this area, and location. And he's got his name on a lot of things and adding the Bills to that would be good for this region," said Tim Schneider, Bills fan.
Tom Golisano has shown he's willing to invest in Western New York. Local Bills' fans hope he adds NFL owner to his resume.
