Insurance Companies Give Advice to Storm Damage Victims

Insurance agents are encouraging those with damaged homes to make a claim, keep good records and take lots of pictures.

Cleanup continues throughout Central and Western New York after Tuesday's storms.  Now those whose homes were impacted are assessing the damage.

Insurance agents are encouraging those with damaged homes or cars to make a claim.  They say keeping records is key, especially if you have any work done.  Save anything you move, and most importantly, take lots of pictures.

"I grabbed our big camera and I was snapping photos," explained Frank Perrotta, who's home was recently damaged from the weather.  "All different angles of the house, of the trees down... Not just for our own documentation but also for insurance just in case we have to show them to the insurance company, just to show the extent of the trees being down.. To cover our butts and protect ourselves."
