Nazareth College is being recognized for efforts to help student veterans in our community.

The college was awarded the "Seven Seals Award" by the Employer Support for Guard and Reserve Wednesday. The award is given to organization that go above and beyond to help citizen soldiers. Nazareth offers several programs and incentives to soldiers trying to make the transition back into civilian life. Nazareth College president Daan Braveman says it is a real honor.

"We in higher education have an obligation that the people that serve this country have the skills to make the transition back into civilian life. I'm proud of the fact that this community embraced that and I think we're doing a great job and we've been recognized for it," he said.

Retired military officers recommend organizations for the award. Nazareth College has nearly 100 veteran students on campus. Just two years ago, there were only 25. For more information on veteran programs at Nazareth, click here.
