Parkinson's Disease Can Effect Emotions

It was revealed this week that actor Robin Williams had the disease.
Rochester, NY(WROC)-  News that comedian and actor Robin Williams had Parkinson's disease is raising a lot of questions.  Robin's wife released a statement yesterday saying her husband was recently diagnosed with the disease and he was suffering from severe depression and anxiety before he took his own life.

Doctor Irene Richards from the University of Rochester says Parkinson's not only affects a person's motor function, it also affects the part of the brain that controls emotion, "What we realize is that it's not simply a reaction of getting a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease nor is it necessarily a reaction to living with a disabling condition. we think that is part of the underlying brain disease."

Robin Williams was 63 years old.
