Police Beef Up Security at Ontario Beach Park

This year, police had more officers on duty to ensure that everyone stayed safe while having fun.
Rochester Police beefed up security today at Ontario Beach Park for the Fourth of July.  Everything is said to have gone according to plan, with a lot of people enjoying our Independence Day.  Police had more officers on duty this year, making sure everyone had a fun but stayed safe.

Residents now are thanking officers for their efforts.  Today's beautiful weather brought out the crowds to the park.  Many still remember back on Memorial Day when a huge fight broke out; officers did not want to see a repeat of that.

One man who saw the Memorial Day fight hopes people continue to stay in line this holiday.

"I was sitting on the stage actually," remembered Antwuan Strozier.  "I think it was terrible.  A lot of chaos and a lot of families in danger; I think it's great that the police are going to reduce the violence out here so people can have a nice day."

Police had been at the beach since 7am.  If anything does go wrong, they will have a transport wagon on site to help make arrests.

"From the way it looks today, maybe that's not the only reason but it seems to have an effect... anyway, we saw no fights, no problems down here at all," said relieved resident, Karidee Perry.
