Some kids in the Rochester City School District have something new to look forward to this summer... reading! Nearly 100,000 books were given to elementary and high school students today as part of the RCSD Summer Reading Distribution Program. It's the largest book distribution in the district's history with almost 675,000 dollars worth of books involved.
5th grader, Elexana Cabrera, is excited about the opportunity, exclaiming, "I really love reading and I like reading at home. I like reading by myself, near a little window or something and I just sit there and read it's fun."
The program supports Rochester's "Read by Third Grade" initiative.
