Spring officially begins Thursday and there are a new business geared toward getting you in shape in a unique way.

Eliza Moore has tried many gyms in Rochester, but was looking for something a little different.

"Well I needed some incentive to get out and work harder because I had been going to the gym and just doing [the] Stairmaster and treadmill," she said.

So when local entrepreneurs Anissa Buckley and Amy Skalny opened up "Real Life Food & Fitness" three weeks ago, she jumped on-board.

"We're looking to be a place where people can come to meet their health goals, whether it's weight loss or sports performance enhancement; and we're looking to give people all the tools they need to do that. From food, fresh locally prepared meals to a high intensity workout," Buckley said.

There is nothing else like it in Rochester and the personal attention is just what Eliza is looking for.

"I'm a competitive person, so if somebody pushes me to do something, I'll do a lot more than if I just had to look at the numbers on the machine," Eliza said.

There are very few machines. Many of the exercises involve body weight, free weights, bands and kettle bells. All are done in intervals to burn 10 times more fat. Once you complete a workout, they have a personal chef trained under the famous Wolfgang Puck to help you eat clean and get lean.

"I think the food component really does make us different. People can come here for 500 calorie-portioned, healthy, fresh-prepared meals as well as the high intensity interval training; which is one of the top trends in fitness right now," Buckley said.

The business may be brand new, but they have kept all the charm of the 130-year-old warehouse they now call home.

"The high ceilings, the beautiful wood architecture and it really is a warm inviting place," Buckley said.

Real Life Food & Fitness plans to add yoga in May. For more information, visit their website.
