The Rochester Rhinos tied the Charlotte Eagles 2-2 on Friday at Charlotte Christian Stadium.
Rhinos forward Kendall Jagdeosingh opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when he put the ball over the head of Eagles goalkeeper Eric Reed. Rochester dominated the rest of the first half, which included Isaac Kissi just missing the inside of the post in the 39th minute. However, Rochester took just a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Andrew Hoxie extended Rochester's lead with his 75th minute goal when he finished a great cross from Tony Donatelli. That gave the Rhinos a 2-0 lead and confidence on the road.
But Charlotte responded with two quick goals to level the game. Jorge Herrera scored in the 78th minute and two minutes later, Charlotte's Chris Salvaggione scored the equalizer.
With the tie, Rochester (10-6-4, 34 pts.) moves one point ahead of the Harrisburg City Islanders for the top spot in the USL PRO National Division. The Rhinos now travel south to take on the Charleston Battery on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Blackbaud Stadium. That game can be viewed live on www.usllive.com.
This will be the second meeting this season between Rochester and Charleston. The Rhinos won the first match-up 1-0 on May 7 at Sahlen's Stadium behind a 25th minute goal from Donatelli.
