Rhinos Hold On This Time

Unlike Friday, Cost's second half goal enough for Rochester's 1-0 win
On Friday night, the Rhinos had a two goal lead with 15 minutes remaining and saw it all melt away in just two minutes.

On Saturday, Rochester proved they can learn from their mistakes.

The Rhinos, playing their second match in two nights, won a hard-fought match against the Charleston Battery Saturday night, earning a 1-0 win on the road.

Rochester got a second half tally by first-half sub Drew Cost as they extended their lead at the top of the USL Pro National Division.

Charleston had the better run of play for much of the first half, as goalkpeeper Neal Kitson's superb play kept the home side off the board.

Early on Kitson denied Niki Patterson's hard driven shot from 20 yards with a diving save. Midway through the first half Kitson was again sharp as he made a diving save to deny Dane Kelly.  Kitson made six saves total as he recorded his eighth shutout of the season.

Rochester took the one goal advantage after Charleston failed to clear the ball following a long throw in.  Cost wasted little time drilling a low shot past Andrew Dysktra for the game-winner.

Kitson preserved his clean sheet in the 90th minute after Charleston's Seedy Bah snuck behind the Rochester defense, rifling a shot that Kitson reacted in time to stop.

Rochester will return home to face the Charlotte Eagles on Friday night, August 5th at Sahlen's Stadium.  Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
