Rochester Man Tasered After Stealing A Car

A Rochester mother says the arrest of her son after a chase is all a big misunderstanding.
The intersection of Saint Paul and Norton Street on Rochester's north side was swarming with police Thursday evening.
They chased a suspect who stole a red car, outside of a convenient store on Saint Paul Street.

Police say the driver hit a parked car, then backed up and ran into a police car.
After the crash, police say he put up a fight, and they had to taser him.
"We're talking with the owner of the car we do have that person on the scene and shell be helping us out to determine appropriate charges," says Lt. Jeff Koehn with RPD

Brown's mother tells me her son knows the owner of the car, and they were in the car together.

"She had to be in there or she gave him permission to do it he walked me to where I was going and we sat and talked for a while and then he left and said "Ma, I'll see you later he came back with the girl and the girl had the car so I ain't think nothin' of it the next thing I know the police got my son blocked off and tased him," Brown's mother, Gilda Smith says.

Brown was taken to Rochester General Hospital and he's under arrest.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and he will be facing robbery charges.
