Scholastic Arts Spotlight: Oksana Miller

Oksana Miller is a gifted guitarist with a talent well beyond her years.
Oksana Miller's artistry is well beyond her age. She's an exceptional guitarist - and her talent's backed up by an absolute commitment to music. She's been studying at the Hochstein School of Music for 10 years. Guitar teacher Tim Shannon began working with Oksana when she was 6 years old. "From that very early age she showed a natural aptitude for the instrument," he says. "In fact I remember her first recital. I couldn't get her off the stage! She just wanted to stay there."
"There was a time when I didn't want it, it was too much practicing," Oksana says. "But after I learned more pieces that I really love I decided I definitely want to incorporate it in my future."
Oksana plays in the Eastman Community School Guitar Ensemble and the Vivace Strong Camp. She has participated in the International Guitar Festival in England, and taken guitar masterclasses with some of the best guitarists in the world.
Oksana is a junior at Brighton High School.
