Stabbing at the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack

Ontario County Sheriff's Deputies say a man was stabbed multiple times but is expected to survive. It's believe this attack was in retaliation to a shooting that happened in Farmington on Wednesday.

A stabbing at the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack today appears to be related to a shooting that happened in Farmington earlier this week.

Ontario County Sheriff's Deputies say a man was stabbed multiple times by another man this morning.  The victim was taken to Strong Hospital where he underwent surgery; investigators say he is expected to survive.

No suspects are in custody at this time.

On Wednesday, one man was shot outside a mobile home on Terri Drive in Farmington.  Investigators believe today's incident was in retaliation and that the racetrack just happened to be a common ground.

"In trying to develop what is causing these conflicts - causing these disturbances - these fights, it clearly seems to be non-racetrack related," explained Ontario County Sheriff, Phil Povero.  "It's clearly related to personal relationships, not business relationships between victims and suspects."

Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack released a statement today on the incident, saying quote:

"The assault that occurred this morning took place within a secured area of the property that is not accessible to the public and is far removed from the racetrack and gaming floor patron areas.  This appears to be a domestic incident between two individuals who assist trainers in caring for horses and are not directly employed by our company."
