Study: Many Local Women in Poverty

The Women's Foundation looked at census data for women-headed households in the Rochester region.
The Women's Foundation is out with a report on poverty among women in the Rochester region. The report, which used census data, found 14.8 percent of women in the seven-county region live in poverty, compared to 12.8 percent of men.

In the City of Rochester, 58 percent of households headed by women with children under 18 live in poverty. Seventy-eight percent live below the Self-Sufficiency Standard of $46,000 for an adult and an infant and school-age child.
