Suny Geneseo Student Found Dead

Alex Davis, 20, was found deceased in a fraternity house apartment.
Geneseo Police report that Alex Davis, 20, was found dead at 72 Center Street in Geneseo at 5:45pm yesterday evening.  There was no trauma to the body and there appears to be no foul play.  There is also no official cause of death but family and friends tell us that he had a previous medical condition that may have caused his death.  Official cause will be released after an autopsy by the Monroe County medical examiner.

David Irwin, director of media relations at Suny Geneseo, released this statement:

To the Campus Community:

I am deeply saddened to inform the campus community of the untimely passing of Alex Davis, a sophomore from Victor, NY, on Sunday, May 4, 2014. While very few details about the circumstances related to his death are known to the College at this time, we do know that he was found in an off-campus house at the time of his passing.

Alex was a 2012 graduate of Victor High School in Victor, NY. At Geneseo he majored in Biochemistry. Those who knew Alex described him as a sometimes shy young man who lit up when talking about family and friends. Alex loved Rochester, family, and lacrosse, and he was a dedicated member of the Victor High School and Geneseo lacrosse teams, as well as a member of Phi Sigma Xi.

Alex is survived by his loving parents Debbie and Bob Davis, as well as older brother KJ, and many, many relatives and friends.

A representative of the College has already spoken with Alex’s family to convey our condolences. As a community, we all share the pain of this loss.

Members of the College Counseling staff have been put on alert, and are available as needed to support the members of the College community. Anyone who would like to speak individually with a counselor should contact Counseling Services at 585-245-5716.

At this time, calling hours and funeral arrangements have not been completed. We will pass this information along as it becomes available.

During this difficult time, let us continue to keep Alex’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.
