SU's Sykes to have surgery on right knee

The Syracuse University women’s basketball team’s leading scorer will undergo surgery to repair the ACL in her right knee.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse University women’s basketball team’s leading scorer will undergo surgery to repair the ACL in her right knee.

Sophomore All-ACC guard Brittney Sykes received the diagnosis after an MRI was performed this week.

She was injured while doing a layup during the Orange's 59-53 NCAA Tournament victory over Chattanooga on March 22 in Lexington, Ky.

A date for surgery will be set following a reevaluation.

After the surgery, Sykes will begin a rehab program with Syracuse's medical, athletic training, and strength and conditioning staffs.
