Telling Story of Rehabbed Homes On Twitter

HOME Rochester connects buyers with homes that have been restored.
"My roof collapsed & overgrown shrubs gave me low self-esteem. HOME Rochester changed all that."

That's a typical tweet from HOME Rochester, an agency that acquires dilapidated houses in the city and gives them new life.

Miriam Zinter, the person behind the @HOMERochester Twitter account, gives the houses some personality and shows before and after pictures.

HOME Rochester buys houses through foreclosure. Sometimes family members of someone who died donate properties. Zinter said they're usually the worst houses on the block. The nonprofit restores the houses and sells them to first-time homeowners who qualify for a mortgage and meet income guidelines. Zinter said the group tries not to compete with the private marketplace.
