The Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra will take part in a unique concert Sunday at Roberts Wesleyan College.

Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra (HYSO) Director Casey Springstead and the Alytus-Rochester Sister Cities Arts and Culture Chairperson Jolanda Chesonis discussed the event Friday on News 8 at Sunrise.

In a first-of-its-kind event, musicians from the HYSO will perform live in a simultaneous transmission, trans-atlantic concert with musicians from the Alytus Music School Youth Symphony Orchestra, Savjone, from Alytus, Lithuania, an official sister city of Rochester.

The concert will take place at 1 p.m. inside the Hale Auditorium on the Roberts Wesleyan campus.  The Hochstein and Alytus students will trade musical selections in an hour long symphonic concert.  The audience in Lithuania will see the HYSO, while the audience in Rochester will see the students performing in Alytus on projection screens.

Alytus is a city of about 70,000 people and has been an official sister city to Rochester since 2009.

Tickets for the concert are $5 for adults, students and children are free.  They will be available at the door or in advance by calling (585) 663-3036 or (585) 216-9714.
