The United Way says it wants to raise $25.5 million in 2014. The money will go towards a number of needs in our community, including helping families with basic needs and helping kids do well in school. United Way is urging employers to set up campaigns in their offices to get more people involved.

"You think about what United Way in Rochester gives Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany combined, United way gives away more than those organizations right here in Rochester," Dan Burns said.

Organizers set this year's goal a little lower than last year. They say the decision is because of changes in the Rochester market.
