Victor Girls Fall In State Finals

Manhasset scores game's final nine goals to steal championship
Victor had a 7-2 lead and was a half and change from their first ever state title.

Then, everything started going wrong.

Manhasset scored the final nine goals of the game to win the Class B State Championship 11-7 over Victor at SUNY Cortland Saturday morning.

Three of the Manhasset goals came before the half. They had the lead with 17 minutes to play and only allowed the Blue Devils one shot in the second half.

Julia Glynn scored four goals and three assists to lead Manhasset. Kathryn Hallet added three goals.

Megan Maloney and Hannah Savage each scored three times for the Blue Devils.

"When I went over and I was in tears, its not disappointment tears," said Victor coach Jamie Smith. "I'm so excited and happy for them. I'm truly gonna miss this group. That's what it's all about. These are the closest girls we have."

Victor finished the season 19-3.
