More than 2,000 people will be freezin' for a reason tomorrow as part of the annual Polar Bear Plunge at Charlotte Beach.

The entire event team spent the day Saturday setting up the plunge site and breaking up the ice. Brave souls will gather Sunday morning for live music, food and entertainment. At noon everyone will take the icy plunge into Lake Ontario. The event benefits the Special Olympics.

"The uniqueness of the plunge, the craziness of the plunge, that's the attractive piece that seems to get all of the plungers here raising money," event organizer Sal Gerbino said. "What we tried to do is turn money raising for Special Olympics into something that is fun and in that process we came up with the Polar Plunge."

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Sunday rain or shine. It costs $60 to plunge. Last year the event raised $230,000.
