Why Rochester Loves the New Corvette!

The Chevy Corvette Stingray C7 was a hit at the New York Auto International Show.
The reviews are in and the new Chevy Corvette Stingray C7 was a hit at the recent New York Auto International Show. General Motors auto workers in Rochester and Western New York are beaming with pride because their hard work goes into the sports car.  It's only a two seater and you'll spend 50 to 75 thousand dollars to buy one, but that's no deterrent when you are in love with the Corvette.

Jim Carello loves collecting, customizing and driving anything with an engine.  He does a lot of his work in a shop next to his Ontario County home.

Jim's favorite is the Chevy Corvette. It's been a lifelong love affair. "And in '65 I bought my first 'Vette. 396, 4 and 1/4 car, Nassau Blue. White top, the whole gig. and from that point on I've probably had a dozen Corvette's over the years."

When Jim read about the new Corvette Stingray C-7 he had to have one.   We went to the G-M Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky to what Jim's car being built.

Because they make 'Vette's here it's also a tourist attraction.  It's open to the public and Plant Manager Jeff Lamarche says many owners come to see their babies being born. "Folks will follow their specific car down the line. We just have a much tighter connection with the ultimate buying customer than the typical GM plant would have."

You can watch our story to see what the plant is like and learn more about how Rochester Auto workers contribute to the new Chevy Corvette.
