Wilson Wins In Wet Weather At Webster

Wildcats survive driving rainstorm for 16-10 victory
Akinlawon Robinson ran a punt back for a TD and Jacquan McCullough scored on a QB sneak as Wilson beat Thomas in windy and wet conditions at Webster Saturday night.

Robinson's punt return covered 37 yards and Wilson went up 8-0 when Tahje Walker converted a two-point try.

Brendan Smith answered for Thomas with a 52 yard TD pass to Alex Hutchings, but the Titans still trailed 8-7 at the half.

The wind and rain was intense during the second half, but McCullough still found Larry Sturgis for a 47 yard completion down to the 13 yard line. Four plays later, McCullough was in from the one for a 14-7 lead.

Wilson got a safety when Thomas had a punt snap go over the punter and out of the end zone. Mike Schreiner kicked a late field goal for Thomas, but it wasn't enough.

Wilson ended the year 5-2 and earned the three seed at Class A. The Wildcats will likely host Canandaigua in round one of sectionals.

The Titans finished 1-6, but will still slip in as the final team in the Class AA sectional field and will play at Aquinas next week.
