Wings Rally Falls Short In Charlotte

Arcia homers in 3rd straight game, but Rochester loses 4-3
Seth Loman was activated from the disabled list on Saturday. It didn't take long for him to settle in.

Loman sent the first pitch he saw over the right center field wall in the bottom of the second inning for his eighth home run of the season, and the Charlotte Knights clipped the Rochester Red Wings 4-3 on Saturday in game two of their four-game series from Knights Stadium. The win was Charlotte's third-straight and second of the series. With the win, the Knights improved to 4-2 against the Red Wings this season.

While the Knights pushed across their first run of the night in the first inning, it was a big three-run second inning which proved to be the difference. It all started with Loman.

Making his first start since May 19 in Buffalo, Loman led off the second inning with his eighth home run of the season. The home run from Loman came off of Rochester starter Vance Worley, who allowed four runs on 10 hits over seven innings. Worley (1-1, 2.25), who was the Minnesota Twins' opening day starter earlier this season, was saddled with the loss on Saturday.

The Knights added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning. One of those runs came from Gordon Beckham, who singled home Angel Sanchez to make it a 3-0 game. Beckham was making his eighth rehab appearance with the Knights this season. He finished the game 1-for-4 with an RBI. He's hitting .333 on his rehab assignment.

Starter Simon Castro (1-6, 5.14) earned his first win of the season after five scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and seven walks in the win. In all, the Knights allowed a season-high 14 walks.

Reliever Leyson Septimo allowed two runs on three hits in the sixth inning. Septimo, who is on a Major League rehab assignment, also walked one batter.

The two teams will continue their series on Sunday with first pitch set for 2:15 p.m. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. and all fans and dogs are welcome to come out and enjoy Bark in the Ballpark. RHP Jason Berken will start for the Knights in game three on Sunday. The Red Wings will send LHP Andrew Albers to the mound.
