"The Kingdom Next to Fid" will make its world premiere on stage from July 31 to August 10 at the Multi-use Community Cultural Center in Rochester.

Karen Craft, Fid's co-author and producer, and Meredith Carroll, co-author and director, discussed the original work Wednesday on News 8 at Noon.

The authors described the play as an epic fairy tale that creates a whole new world, with a prince, servent, fairies, witch, dwarves and knights.  It weaves together action, romance, comedy and adventure.  It's an ambitious undertaking from the size of the cast to the staging of the production.  Both Craft and Carroll want it to appeal to everyone, but especially older children and adults.

Performance times are as follows:

Thursday, July 31 at 8pm (special preview)
Friday, August 1 at 8pm
Saturday, August 2 at 8pm
Sunday, August 3 at 2pm

Thursday, August 7 at 8pm
Friday, August 8 at 8pm
Saturday, August 9 at 8pm
Sunday, August 10 at 2pm

Tickets range in price from $8 to $18 and all the proceeds from the show will benefit MuCCC, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing theatre space to performers and acting troupes throughout the Rochester area.

On Saturday, June 28, a meet-and-greet called "Fun with Fid" will be held at the MuCCC from 11am to 3pm.  Some of the characters will be introduced in advance of the production while benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester.
