WROC interviews Bills QB of future in NYC

NEW YORK -- In the biggest shock of the first round of the NFL Draft so far, the Bills selected former Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel with the No. 16 pick on Thursday night.

To say that this was a surprise is putting it mildly. Hardly anybody would have guessed Manuel would have been selected before West Virginia's Geno Smith or Syracuse's Ryan Nassib.

But, apparently, new Bills coach Doug Marrone found something that he liked in the former Seminoles standout instead of Nassib, his own former player.

As NFLDraftScout.com wrote in the leadup to the draft, "With great size, athleticism and intriguing arm talent, Manuel has as much upside as any quarterback in the 2013 draft. But despite statistical gains in 2012, Manuel largely remains the unpolished passer he was a year ago."
