YWCA Launches New Program to Help Strengthen Race Relations

The program is called "Person 2 Person."
The YWCA launched a new program this morning that aims to strengthen race and ethnic relations in Rochester.  The organization is teaming with RIT for the "Person 2 Person' program.

The program will pair two people of different race or ethnicity together for a span of nine months.  Over that time, the pair will meet every few weeks and share their experiences with each other.  Jean Carroll, the President and CEO of YWCA, said, "The initial class will be folks in leadership positions from a variety of sectors in the community.  The reason that we did that is those individuals can take the program back to their organizations, back to their institutions, and then we can replicate it in future years."

The "Person 2 Person" program was boosted by a $133,000 grant from the Rochester Area Community Foundation.
