A classic Rochester burger joint is serving its last customers Friday.

Don's Original on Monroe Avenue will close for good at 9 p.m. The owner, Terry Klees, says he had a bad season with the business and believes it is time to move one. Customers crowded the restaurant Friday for one last meal.

"I heard the news this morning and thought I was dreaming because I was still half asleep at 6:00, and I said I gotta stop in and have a hamburger and a burnt up Texas, because I've done it for 55, 60, 70 years. Since I can remember," Norm Lederman said.

Don's Original fans can still get their fix at the Penfield and Seabreeze locations. Brighton burger-lovers will be able to grab a bite at Tom Wahl's when that restaurant moves into the Monroe Avenue site after renovations.
