Dr. Colleen Fogarty Discusses the Power Writing Has on Health

Dr. Colleen Fogarty sits down with Ali Touhey on News 8 at Sunrise to discuss the health benefits of writing.
Colleen T. Fogarty, MD and colleagues will perform in the 2013 First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival (Sept. 19-28) on September 28 at Writers and Books (740 University Avenue). These personal pieces reflect the challenges and joys that 21st-century healers face on a daily basis in teaching, training, and practice.
Dr. Colleen Fogarty, a family physician, will lead colleagues in this premiere performance of "Heart and Soul: Medicine and Life." She has written and published poetry and narrative about her own illness experience as well as her work as a physician. Colleagues Francesca Decker, MD; Pebble Kranz, MD; Natercia Rodrigues, MD; and Tziporah Rosenberg, PhD, will read from their work.
"I ran off to join the medical circus 10 years ago from a career in theater; getting to participate in this reading joins the two halves of my life in a satisfying way," said Dr. Pebble Kranz.
