Listen to Dylan Kennedy play the violin and you can't help but smile. The Victor High School senior plays at a higher level than most college students, and he does it with the sheer joy of making music. He's so talented he was tapped to be the concertmaster for the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Conductor David Harman relies on him to help lead the musicians.
"It's fun," says Dylan. "The leadership is a responsibility but I really enjoy it. It allows me to be a lot more involved and to have a bigger impact on what's happening with the music."
"Dylan is an amazingly talented young man," says Harman. "When he walked through the door the first time we knew this was somebody to pay attention to."
Dylan routinely wins perfect scores in scholastic arts competitions and festivals. He's studied both violin and piano at the Hochstein School of Music. And he even teaches a select group of other students. This young concertmaster is well on his way to a career that he loves.
