Eastridge Wins Battle Of Big Plays With Canandaigua

Lancers score four times from 60 yards away or more
C.J. Turner scored on a pair of big plays as Eastridge held off Canandaigua 34-27 to win a Monroe County League Title Saturday afternoon in Irondequoit.

The game featured five touchdown plays of 60 yards or more--four by Eastridge.

Trailing 6-0, Jay'Von Hampton got the big plays started with a 95 yard kickoff return for a TD. After Canandaigua re-took the lead at 14-7, Turner broke off a 75 yard touchdown run to even the score at 14.

The Braves answered with a Mitch Schaefer to Eric Munn 60 yard score, but Eastridge tied the game at 20 before the half.

The Lancers got the first two TDs of the second half. The first was a Jametrius Lewis to Turner 60 yard TD pass. The second score was a Lewis keeper that covered 86 yards. Canandaigua scored once more to cut Eastridge's lead in half, but could not get closer than 34-27.

Both teams will be a part of sectionals next week. The Lancers ended the season 6-1 and will be the 2-seed at Class A, but they will host Victor next week. The Blue Devils were the only team to beat Eastridge this season.

Canandaigua will likely be the 6-seed and travel to Wilson for a first round playoff game. The Braves went 5-2 in the regular season.
