There simply is no other team in Fairport's class when it comes to girl's softball. The Red Raiders capped their fifth Class AA1 sectional title in six years under coach Amie Carr with a 5-2 win over Penfield.
MacKenzie Cleary picked up the tournaments MVP trophy with a complete game as well as a 2-run home run in the fifth inning.
Fairport traliled 1-0 in the fourth inning until Sam Broking's bloop to right scored two to ive the Red Raiders a 2-1 lead. They'd grab another run in the inning on a Jaime Hoskins RBI single.
The Red Raiders will play Brockport in the state tournament qualifier at 3:00 from SUNY Brockport.
